I wrote this article for ‘The Journalist’, a magazine produced by the National Union of Journalists (of which I am a member). Reflecting on how I came to cover the war in Ukraine – how I learned how to cover war, and the help I had along the way – as well as the process of gathering all that material and writing Night Train to Odesa.
